Things one learns while listening to British radio: alarm clocks that made tea used to be very popular in the UK. The idea is that it will wake you up and you will have a cup of tea waiting for you.

I feel like Q is very sad that this isn't really a thing any more. Or perhaps he has made himself a better version.

In other, "I'm Sorry All I Talk About is Tom Hiddleston" news: this literally made my day. Followed closely by this.

Those videos with Tom are adorable!!! And wow, it would be wonderful to have a tea-making clock radio. I definitely need one of those in my life as well. :)

I love how at ease he is with both of them. And how he very sweetly takes the time to acknowledge them, and then goes right back into what he was doing before, so no one gets ignored.

I'd like a clock that made toast. I'd like to wake up to toast.

He probably made one that could scan your brain activity as you slept so as to figure out what type of tea you'd want when you wake up.

Those videos are ADORABLE. That little girl in her ladybuy raincoat!! Who wouldn't want to squeeze her? I love how she's so tiny compared to TH.

In related TH news, some pics from the filming of Crimson Peak (which you may have seen already): http://torrilla.tumblr.com/post/84993092600/tom-hiddleston-jessica-chastain-charlie-hunnam

One that figures out how tired you were when you went to bed and how much sleep you got and brews your tea to an according strength for how much kick you need.

There's a bit when she and her mum were getting their pictures taken with him earlier, when her mum puts up the hood on her Loki hoodie, and the little girl sees her do that, and puts up the hood on her ladybug raincoat.

I love how Tom in both cases manages to acknowledge and interact with them, without ignoring any of the other people there. He's clearly learned to be a good multitasker at being adored.

I have not seen those photos! They look like they're having fun. I like Hiddleston's shades. I'm not sure if they're his own to wear between takes, or Victorian era smoked lenses. He seems to have them on for the whole scene they're shooting. They give him a nice 'dangerous professor' look. If he were a bit darker in skin tone, and a bit thicker in body type, he would make a very good Nicholas Brisbane in the Lady Julia Grey books. Tortured Victorian detective, he could do that, I think.

I like coming up with context for what they might be talking about.

Ama said Mia was super super tiny in real life, and I can see she is. Being of average height, I wonder if it ever gets tiring being so much taller than everyone all the time. You must eventually just start to hunch to talk to anyone, or just say 'fuck it, look up to me, I'm not bending anymore today'.

I like Hiddleston's shades.

I hope those shades are for the film. I kind of feel like they make the entire outfit. I'm really liking the overall steampunk look everyone's got. It's Victorian with an edge.

Oh good. So I'm not the only one. I imagined he and Jessica Chastain were discussing what their go to fighting techniques might be should they ever get into a fight.

TH: I'd probably scratch. Like this?
JC: I think most people would expect me to scratch. But I'd go for a punch using my super strong arm.
TH: (impressed laughter)
JC: It'd be a straight to the face punch. Like this.

I saw a different set of shots, and he does seem to have them on constantly throughout the scene. I'm assuming his and Jessica's characters are in mourning. Or totally not subtle about the fact that they're evil. Although, if Mia is supposed to be married to Tom, she should be in mourning too. Jessica is playing his sister, so if they lost a parent, they should both be in mourning. Unless the action takes place before Mia and Tom get married.

Okay, I'm going to stop being Sherlock now. I even deduced, while knowing nothing of which character is which or the plot or who is married or in love with who, that Tom and Jessica must be playing brother and sister because they were both in mourning, like Sherlock of Sherlock. And then I Googled, like Sherlock of Elementary.

There's another useless skill of mine: solving Victorian mysteries I have created myself. Another line on the CV!

Ha! Oh, I could actually see Tom scratching in real life. Just flailing scratches in hopes of not actually having to hurt the person, and they might go away uninjured, and they could sit down with a cup of tea and talk it out.

TH: *flailing* I'm terribly sorry about this misunderstanding! Did I draw blood? I'm sorry, I would get you a handkerchief if you would just stop punching me long enough. Oh, yes, my cheekbones are quite hard, I hope you didn't hurt your hand!

I've always wanted an excuse to put Alec in a fight, because I feel like his basic response would be 'defend Molly, defend Molly' and then his follow up would be 'oh, I'm so sorry, here, let me help you'.

I used to have one of those - in the 1990s - more for my ex than me as I don't like tea!

I was listening to the Horne Section on Radio 4, and there was a whole song about Teasmades, and that's why I ended up Googling it. It seemed like everyone knew what they were and I had never heard of them.

Oh my God, you fiend! Does the Queen know? I'm sure they must revoke your licence to be British for that.

In my defence, I used to drink it anyway to stop elderly relatives going into a decline when they asked if I wanted a cup of tea. They died in the 90s and I stopped drinking it. I didn't drink coffee until 2007 either (Starbucks frappuccinos don't really count) and I blame the fact that I now do on Ianto Jones... never instant coffee though, still don't like that!
