Please send help. The plot bunnies are attacking from all directions and I can't concentrate on any of them because my brain keeps going to the others. We were working on daemon!fic, bunnies. It was cute. We were moving along really well. There was tea and small children. Why are we jumping through eras and fandoms?
I mean, don't leave me. But just...form a queue?

Date: 2015-05-25 04:09 am (UTC)I'm not sure what happened. I was writing away, and Peggy and Jarvis were having tea and Takeo was teaching Mim how to be a hyena, and then Howard was like 'I'm not in this fic enough, write a story about me', so now I'm also working on 'That Time Howard and Maria went to Paris', in addition to 'That Time Peggy Brought Home a Cute, Drugged British Spy and Angie Was Pleased' and the not-yet-started-but-in-my head 'That Time the Stark Family Threw Jarvis a Surprise Party'. With frequent intervals of the so-AU-it's-not-funny 'Time Steve Rogers Met a Nice Girl and Married Her and Had A Baby'.
And, when doing research for the daemon story, I learned about the 1969 Nor'easter that paralyzed New York, and so I have this other fic floating around of Howard, Maria, Jarvis, and Anna being literally stuck in the house for two days.
Please send help.

Date: 2015-05-25 04:16 am (UTC)And Howard is still face down in his lab, suffering from a hangover because I haven't gotten to the part where Jarvis brings him his hangover drink.
Winnie's having fun perpetually playing with a corgi puppy, though.
'That Time Peggy Brought Home a Cute, Drugged British Spy and Angie Was Pleased'
Yyyeesssss!
I mean, no. No, no new stories.

Date: 2015-05-25 04:27 am (UTC)But if I went by your method:
Jarvis is waiting for information from Peggy about how bad the Stark Industries accident was that made Howard have to leave Tony in his care for the day, and Haddie is wishing Takeo wouldn't excite Mim so much.
Howard is waiting to see if Maria wants to go to Paris with him, which is his solution for her not knowing if she wants to keep dating him after the press starts to report about them. He thinks going to Paris will give her a chance to get to know him better before she has to make the choice (BTW, please don't leave him, he probably, maybe a little bit loves you)
Bucky and Steve are chatting about whether Nora really likes him, because Steve is a little confused about modern dating and how sleeping with someone doesn't necessary mean you're in love.
And Angie is sitting by Bond's bed with a baseball bat, just in case he tries anything funny between the time Peggy leaves him there and the minder agents show up.

Date: 2015-05-25 04:32 am (UTC)This is so Angie.
Oh, yes, and Tony is still rolling his eyes as he watches Steve excitedly showing Bucky the puppies that he's taken in. "When will this floor stop reeking of dogs? Never. That's when. Never," he's thinking.

Date: 2015-05-25 04:41 am (UTC)She's pretty sure he's harmless, because of the whole being drugged thing, but you wanna be on the safe side, you know?
It's one of those weird situations where the characters take over, because I don't want minder agents there, but Peggy wouldn't leave Angie alone without back-up, so now they have to come. It's like when Howard insisted on calling an ambulance for Tony when I wanted him to drive him to the hospital. Dammit, Howard Stark, this is not the time to behave like a responsible human being!
Oh, yes, and Tony is still rolling his eyes as he watches Steve excitedly showing Bucky the puppies that he's taken in.
Awww, Steve. *ruffles his hair*
Speaking of dogs, this picture (http://animalsthatdopeoplethings.tumblr.com/post/119770553628) makes me want to write a scene where Jarvis is sucked into a vicious boardgame night at the Stark househould, and Haddie is very concerned violence might break out at any moment.
And here's (http://bunnyfood.tumblr.com/post/119608210604) a daemon couple having some marital problems, for good luck.

Awww, Steve. *ruffles his hair*
I have so much dialogue of Steve talking happily about how great it is that he's not allergic to dogs anymore.
Bucky: Is that why you're letting them use you as a bed?
Steve: Aren't they great?

Date: 2015-05-25 05:02 am (UTC)Steve: Aren't they great?
Hee! I can so see Steve with a lap full of puppies. A very happy Steve with a lap full of puppies.
Nora finds her first few nights at Casa Steve involve waking up with a slightly disgruntled Dalmatian who isn't sure why this female human who he quite liked up until this point is suddenly in his spot, but whatever, he'll just squeeze in right over here.
ETA: I'm having AU dreams now. I hope you're satisfied.
...Here's JJ's daemon:
Animal: Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retriever (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a8/Viljo_koirarannalla_18-edit2.jpg)
Name: Bertrande (meaning 'bright edge of the shield')
Nickname: Betti, used by basically everyone. Except Demira, who calls her 'Trainwreck', due to a childhood habit of being curious and breaking things in the lab.
Major Personality Traits: Betti is an honest, forthright kind of daemon, who alternates between being measured and thoughtful, and going full throttle into an adventure. She loves spending time with her family, but isn't terribly fond of strangers, and while she's very easy-going and willing to let things slide, mess with a member of her family (blood or otherwise) and she will shut that right down. No matter what size you are or the chances of her winning the fight. It's more important that she tried.
How he/she sleeps: JJ sleeps curled in a ball on his side, and Betti curls around his butt, with her head up by his shoulder. She likes to hang her tail off the bed.
How he/she travels with his/her human: A gentle, bouncing trot, taking in the sights. JJ's a big swimmer, so if he's in the water, she's the best dog paddler this side of the Hudson. It's very hard to get her out of the water once she's in it, and she'll splash in puddles in the street as JJ is walking along, and likes the rain.
What he/she does when his/her human is at rest: Betti is happy to lay her head on JJ's shoulder to read whatever book he's into at the moment. During family occasions, she'll divide her time evenly between everyone, laying down to have a little chat and then moving along.
Favourite forms before he/she settled: Whenever she decided it was time for a swim, Betti would announce this by turning into a mink and not changing back until she'd been to the pool. Her record was four days. It was winter and half of New York was closed down by a snowstorm. She often tried to be complimentary forms to the ones she had around her, so if there was a dog she might be a cat or if there was a bird she might be something more grounded. Not so much in defiance, more as though wanting to be helpful by rounding out the team.
What his/her voice sounds like: Kind of a mellow drawl, unless she's excited, whereupon she gets higher pitched and a bit breathless.

Except Demira, who calls her 'Trainwreck', due to a childhood habit of being curious and breaking things in the lab.
Haha!
Yup, I can see JJ, Betti, Winnie, and Cam all spent their childhood getting in some form of trouble even though they had nothing but Good Intentions.
It's not the right breed of dog, but here are Betti and Cam trying to act innocent.
Cam: We're not up to anything.

That is a gorgeous dog. Looks more like an Issie dog, actually. Maybe Winnie's getting a piggy-back from Uncle Steve. Does she play baseball? Steve would totally teach her how to play baseball.
Cam: We're not up to anything.
Betti: *looking very conflicted for a moment* No, we totally are. But we're sorry about it.
Cam: No, we're not! We're never going to solve crimes if you keep being honest about things!
Betti: I'm sorry. I can't help it.

Steve: Are you encouraging your daughter to lie?
Bucky: Oh I'm sorry, Steve from New Jersey. How did you get into the army the first time?
Steve: Nevermind.

Date: 2015-05-26 12:27 am (UTC)Awww. :-D Well, Uncle Steve will totally cheer her on at track meets, in any case.
I bet JJ practices with his shield when Winnie has her singlestick practice.
Bucky: Why are our kids learning medieval combat?
Steve: Because it makes them happy?
Bucky: Aww, yeah, okay.
Steve: Are you encouraging your daughter to lie?
Bucky: Oh I'm sorry, Steve from New Jersey. How did you get into the army the first time?

Hahahaha!
Betti: Did Steve really lie?
Issie: No. No! He...well, we were...it was...yes. Yes, he did. But it was for a good reason, so it didn't...well, of course, it counted, but... *looks to Nora's daemon for help*
Tyr: Go on, you're doing great there, Is.

Hee! There may be a very small part of Steve that every once in awhile gets irritated that Bucky's memories came back so intact.
Cam: I thought Captain America was supposed to be about not fighting.
Shess: Let me tell you which days of the week Steve didn't get into a fight. Noday. That's the only day.
Cam: So he was always fighting?
Shess: To be fair, he was usually trying to defend someone. Usually that someone was bigger than him and probably could have taken care of themselves but that was never the point.

Date: 2015-05-26 01:10 am (UTC)Betti: But you're allowed to fight if it's for a good reason!
Shess: Yep, that is what is on the Rogers family crest.
I'm just picturing the poor teachers who have to teach WWII to Winnie and JJ, though.
Nora: why did you get detention this time?
JJ: I talked back to the teacher.
Nora: why?
JJ: She said Dad was only rejected by the army twice, I know it was more than that. And I wrote in the textbook, because it said he was only rejected twice, too.
Nora: I see. Well, maybe you could be a little more polite about it next time?
JJ: Okay. Do you think I could bring Dad for show and tell on Friday?
Nora: actually, I would love to see that happen. Go ahead and ask him.
JJ: yay!
no subject
Date: 2015-05-26 01:18 am (UTC)JJ: yay!
Oh, Nora. You are secretly evil.
I'm so amused at the idea of JJ scribbling in all the corrections to the textbooks. I can even see him doing little commentary as he goes along and drawing smiley faces at the good parts.
I'm just picturing the poor teachers who have to teach WWII to Winnie and JJ, though.
In my more angsty headcanon (because dammit, I'm still me), history from WWII onward for Winnie isn't great because of what's been written about the Winter Soldier (textbooks and differing opinions books) versus what her family has told her is the truth. She had a lot of talks with Joan and Steve about it growing up because she didn't want to upset her dad.

Date: 2015-05-26 01:35 am (UTC)I have Nora mostly taking the sheer weirdness of being married to Steve in stride, with the occasional panicky moment of 'holy shit, he's 97, he fucking met FDR, he used to have a travelling band of tap dancers and his own theme song, there are action figures, what is my life?'. But mostly just, 'he's a really nice guy and does the dishes without being asked, I love him'.
She had a lot of talks with Joan and Steve about it growing up because she didn't want to upset her dad.
Awww, yeah. That's gotta be rough.

Date: 2015-05-26 01:45 am (UTC)Awww, this is totally the kind of person Steve needs to married to. The person who marries Steve rather than just Captain America.
Do you know when Steve and Nora would say something to JJ about who Steve is? It's one thing to talk about your dad being famous as a hero in present time but quite something else to explain the whole 97 years old/frozen thing.
I'm trying to get an idea for when Bucky and Joan would tell Winnie about the Winter Soldier. They'd want her to know before some stranger randomly tells her but also wouldn't want to tell her when she's too young.
I have it in mind that Winnie was at first fixated on the fact that her father lost all his memories and worried that it'll somehow happen again.

Date: 2015-05-26 02:05 am (UTC)Steve notes that she's more concerned about the fact that he missed a lot of books while he was frozen than the fact that Captain America just walked into her bookstore.

Due to me having to create Nora from scratch, and so having to introduce her more than I would for a canon character, JJ hasn't been born yet in my story. Or conceived. But I'd say for JJ, probably around three or so is when they'd start to mention about Steve being Captain America, because I imagine he gets stopped a lot on the street when out with JJ, and JJ would start to notice that that's kind of weird. I imagine by seven or eight, he'd been aware of the fact that Daddy took a really, really long nap, and that he had a special serum put in him to help him fight bad people, and it makes him really strong, and he doesn't get older as fast as Mommy because of that. I don't think there would be a big 'sit down and talk' moment for JJ, it would come from asking questions and getting them answered.
I have a theory that because JJ grew up with Steve, it's not terribly weird for him. Your parents are divorced, you have two dads, my dad is 97 and my mum is 30 and that's just how life is. Especially since they live in the MCU and one of daddy's friends has a mystical space hammer and another one sometimes turns into a green angry man. You know, normal stuff.
I have it in mind that Winnie was at first fixated on the fact that her father lost all his memories and worried that it'll somehow happen again.
That is so realistic, but ouch.

This is the one super angsty fic I go to when I need to remind myself of when I wrote really sad things. Sure, in the end it's all fine but small!Winnie literally talked to everyone else she could about her concerns before finally Bucky sat her down to tell her he wouldn't ever forget her.

Here's how I'd imagine the early days of Cam and Betti getting to know each other.
And Dejeni trying to give Mim a treat after a rough day of Tony and Howard fighting.

Date: 2015-05-26 03:00 am (UTC)Yeah, after Bucky found out Winnie was trying to get J.A.R.V.I.S' thoughts on her concerns he rapidly kicked into Comforting Parent Mode.
J.A.R.V.I.S does very well with my mini!Starks, he probably handled the situation appropriately. I had an idea once of a fic that was in two parts of Jarvis helping Howard take care of a sick Tony while Maria was away, and then J.A.R.V.I.S helping Tony take care of a sick Jamie while Pepper is away. If we go by your suspended animation theory, Jarvis is still freezing Tony's soother to try and ease his teething issues and hoping Mrs Stark gets home soon.
Here's how I'd imagine the early days of Cam and Betti getting to know each other.
Awww!
Issie: Betti, don't chew on Cam's ear.
Shess: Cam, don't peck Betti, that's not nice.
*five minutes later, Cam and Betti are snuggling*
Issie: Well, that went better than when we met.
Shess: What are you talking about, we've always been best friends.
Issie: Steve's mom said you put me in an empty box and closed the lid.
Shess: Because I liked you! I wanted to put you away for safe keeping. You were so small.
Issie: I wasn't that small!
Shes: You were always that small.
And Dejeni trying to give Mim a treat after a rough day of Tony and Howard fighting.
Hehe! I'm picturing instead of food, it's some sort of circuit board or robotic part.
Dejeni: Do you want to build something, kiddo?
Mim: No. Yes. No...yes...maybe.
Dejeni: *whispering to Howard* Get me another gear, I think I've got her cornered.

Date: 2015-05-26 03:09 am (UTC)He took her through the logistics of how memory loss wouldn't happen again which isn't far from what Joan, Steve, Sherlock, and Natasha all told her. It was reassuring to a point but it was better for Winnie to hear it directly from her dad why it wouldn't happen again.
Issie: Steve's mom said you put me in an empty box and closed the lid.
Shess: Because I liked you! I wanted to put you away for safe keeping. You were so small.
Issie: I wasn't that small!
Shes: You were always that small.
Hahaha!!! This is so Shess' version of being protective. Of course you were always that small, Issie. Always.
Dejeni: *whispering to Howard* Get me another gear, I think I've got her cornered.
Hee!
Tomor: You're talking to Tony's daemon, Jen. Not wrangling a wild animal.
Dejeni: It feels exactly like the same thing. Only I don't have the option of a tranquilizer gun.
