Please send help. The plot bunnies are attacking from all directions and I can't concentrate on any of them because my brain keeps going to the others. We were working on daemon!fic, bunnies. It was cute. We were moving along really well. There was tea and small children. Why are we jumping through eras and fandoms?

I mean, don't leave me. But just...form a queue?

I'm not sure what happened. I was writing away, and Peggy and Jarvis were having tea and Takeo was teaching Mim how to be a hyena, and then Howard was like 'I'm not in this fic enough, write a story about me', so now I'm also working on 'That Time Howard and Maria went to Paris', in addition to 'That Time Peggy Brought Home a Cute, Drugged British Spy and Angie Was Pleased' and the not-yet-started-but-in-my head 'That Time the Stark Family Threw Jarvis a Surprise Party'. With frequent intervals of the so-AU-it's-not-funny 'Time Steve Rogers Met a Nice Girl and Married Her and Had A Baby'.

And, when doing research for the daemon story, I learned about the 1969 Nor'easter that paralyzed New York, and so I have this other fic floating around of Howard, Maria, Jarvis, and Anna being literally stuck in the house for two days.

I sometimes think the characters of my story are perpetually stuck where I left them in the story. In which case, Dejeni is staring at the broken model Shess just knocked over, wondering when she'll finally be able to fix it because I haven't written that part yet.

And Howard is still face down in his lab, suffering from a hangover because I haven't gotten to the part where Jarvis brings him his hangover drink.

Winnie's having fun perpetually playing with a corgi puppy, though.

I always think of my characters as actors who go off set when I'm not writing them, and hang out with each other in my file folders. And then they reassemble them if I need them.

But if I went by your method:

Jarvis is waiting for information from Peggy about how bad the Stark Industries accident was that made Howard have to leave Tony in his care for the day, and Haddie is wishing Takeo wouldn't excite Mim so much.

Howard is waiting to see if Maria wants to go to Paris with him, which is his solution for her not knowing if she wants to keep dating him after the press starts to report about them. He thinks going to Paris will give her a chance to get to know him better before she has to make the choice (BTW, please don't leave him, he probably, maybe a little bit loves you)

Bucky and Steve are chatting about whether Nora really likes him, because Steve is a little confused about modern dating and how sleeping with someone doesn't necessary mean you're in love.

And Angie is sitting by Bond's bed with a baseball bat, just in case he tries anything funny between the time Peggy leaves him there and the minder agents show up.

Oh, yes, and Tony is still rolling his eyes as he watches Steve excitedly showing Bucky the puppies that he's taken in. "When will this floor stop reeking of dogs? Never. That's when. Never," he's thinking.

She's pretty sure he's harmless, because of the whole being drugged thing, but you wanna be on the safe side, you know?

It's one of those weird situations where the characters take over, because I don't want minder agents there, but Peggy wouldn't leave Angie alone without back-up, so now they have to come. It's like when Howard insisted on calling an ambulance for Tony when I wanted him to drive him to the hospital. Dammit, Howard Stark, this is not the time to behave like a responsible human being!

Oh, yes, and Tony is still rolling his eyes as he watches Steve excitedly showing Bucky the puppies that he's taken in.

Awww, Steve. *ruffles his hair*

Speaking of dogs, this picture (http://animalsthatdopeoplethings.tumblr.com/post/119770553628) makes me want to write a scene where Jarvis is sucked into a vicious boardgame night at the Stark househould, and Haddie is very concerned violence might break out at any moment.

I have so much dialogue of Steve talking happily about how great it is that he's not allergic to dogs anymore.

Hee! I can so see Steve with a lap full of puppies. A very happy Steve with a lap full of puppies.

Nora finds her first few nights at Casa Steve involve waking up with a slightly disgruntled Dalmatian who isn't sure why this female human who he quite liked up until this point is suddenly in his spot, but whatever, he'll just squeeze in right over here.

ETA: I'm having AU dreams now. I hope you're satisfied.

Name: Bertrande (meaning 'bright edge of the shield')

Nickname: Betti, used by basically everyone. Except Demira, who calls her 'Trainwreck', due to a childhood habit of being curious and breaking things in the lab.

Major Personality Traits: Betti is an honest, forthright kind of daemon, who alternates between being measured and thoughtful, and going full throttle into an adventure. She loves spending time with her family, but isn't terribly fond of strangers, and while she's very easy-going and willing to let things slide, mess with a member of her family (blood or otherwise) and she will shut that right down. No matter what size you are or the chances of her winning the fight. It's more important that she tried.

How he/she sleeps: JJ sleeps curled in a ball on his side, and Betti curls around his butt, with her head up by his shoulder. She likes to hang her tail off the bed.

How he/she travels with his/her human: A gentle, bouncing trot, taking in the sights. JJ's a big swimmer, so if he's in the water, she's the best dog paddler this side of the Hudson. It's very hard to get her out of the water once she's in it, and she'll splash in puddles in the street as JJ is walking along, and likes the rain.

What he/she does when his/her human is at rest: Betti is happy to lay her head on JJ's shoulder to read whatever book he's into at the moment. During family occasions, she'll divide her time evenly between everyone, laying down to have a little chat and then moving along.

Favourite forms before he/she settled: Whenever she decided it was time for a swim, Betti would announce this by turning into a mink and not changing back until she'd been to the pool. Her record was four days. It was winter and half of New York was closed down by a snowstorm. She often tried to be complimentary forms to the ones she had around her, so if there was a dog she might be a cat or if there was a bird she might be something more grounded. Not so much in defiance, more as though wanting to be helpful by rounding out the team.

What his/her voice sounds like: Kind of a mellow drawl, unless she's excited, whereupon she gets higher pitched and a bit breathless.

J.A.R.V.I.S does very well with my mini!Starks, he probably handled the situation appropriately.

He took her through the logistics of how memory loss wouldn't happen again which isn't far from what Joan, Steve, Sherlock, and Natasha all told her. It was reassuring to a point but it was better for Winnie to hear it directly from her dad why it wouldn't happen again.

Issie: Steve's mom said you put me in an empty box and closed the lid.
Shess: Because I liked you! I wanted to put you away for safe keeping. You were so small.
Issie: I wasn't that small!
Shes: You were always that small.

Hahaha!!! This is so Shess' version of being protective. Of course you were always that small, Issie. Always.

Dejeni: *whispering to Howard* Get me another gear, I think I've got her cornered.

Mim: I'm eight, Tony can't drive yet.
Dejeni: Howard started driving at eight. Well, he fixed the engine and then we wanted to see if it was working, so he kind of drove it a little. He didn't steal it, though! That was all a misunderstanding.

Dejeni: No. Jarvis would have a fit.

I like how Dejeni graduates from gears to cars. There's nothing in the middle. And of course the only reason why not to let Tony drive at eight would be that Jarvis would get angry.

Although now I have an image of Tony sitting on Howard's lap and steering while Howard does the pedals. Jarvis would probably still have a minor fit.

That is actually kind of a sweet image. I imagine Tony got to 'fly' a few planes when he was little as well. I can see him on Howard's lap, and Howard making swooshing fighter plane noises as Tony presses buttons.

Kind of reminds me of this (http://ladymanson.com/galleries/movies/MoviesHK/displayimage.php?pid=201070&fullsize=1) image from the Montage of Backstory in the first Iron Man movie. Awkward photoshop is awkward, but nice touch mentioning the ARC reactor there, movie.

It's funny that now that montage just messes with my mind as does whenever Howard shows up in the Iron Man movies because to me he is now Dominic Cooper. Whenever I see the earlier Howards, it's like, "Wait, why didn't they just age Dominic Cooper and put him in this- oh wait, right, he hadn't been cast at all."

I can see Howard doing a better job at certain ages with Tony, but as soon as he feels like he's getting into the groove, Tony changes or Howard goes through a rough patch, and things get all messed up again.

This montage is also the reason that, despite literally knowing what Howard looks like in the 70's, I still have a much clearer image of what Jarvis looks like. In my head, I know exactly what Jarvis looks like in his 50's and 60's, but I just have this weird Cooper/Slattery hybrid for Howard. I feel like Slattery is the odd one out. I could see Cooper aging into montage!Howard, but the stop off at Slattery!Howard is hard for me to get my head around.

You would be hard pressed to find two white men who look less like each other than Cooper and Slattery.

Issie finds it rather adorable, too. That's why she doesn't get upset when he does it instead of cuddling with her.

As usual, I have far more headcanon than story. It's hard to find the balance of trying to breeze through to the point where JJ is born but also not just telling you to like Nora. But not dwelling so long on describing her that the story doesn't go anywhere.

I think dogs and daemons in the HDM verse probably have a deeper bond than even dog and humans. They connect on a different level. When I did a daemon meme response for Fraser of due South, my headcanon was that Tannerak and Diefenbaker were best buds, and Fraser was always having to clarify which one was his daemon and which was his pet.
