My brain is jumping for story to story again, so time for some memeage to get it to chill.

Character Questions Meme

1. Go here to generate 10 random numbers between 1 and 100.

2. Choose a character that I write or have written, be it a canon person, an OC or whatever. Feel free to pick a character that was used before, as the questions will most likely be different this time around.

3. Comment with the character and the numbers, and then I will answer the corresponding questions from here

OCS and AU versions of characters are welcome. If daemons are requested, I'll figure something out.

Just because we've been talking about him a lot, can I have JJ Rogers?

Pt The First

From: [identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com
Certainly, my dear!

JJ Rogers

How much schooling have you had?

I did kindergarten through high school, and then I did a history degree in university, and I also did a bunch of art courses, and an illustration course, and some writing courses, but just on the side.

When and with whom was your first kiss?

Um, I think Winnie and I probably kissed when we were little and didn't know what kissing was, and it was just, like, a friendly thing. But my first actual kiss was when I was sixteen, and it was with my first girlfriend, who was called Alix. She was very cool, but we only dated for a few months. I think she's married to a girl now, but she always dated boys and girls, so I don't it had anything to do with me. That's not how it works.

What is your greatest fear?

It's kind of stupid, but when I was really little and my parents were trying to explain about Dad to me, about how he was asleep for a long time and that's why he's old and not old, I was kind of afraid he was doing to do it again. I didn't really understand that the sleeping was because he was frozen and the serum was keeping him safe. I just thought it was a thing that he did, like it was just part of a disability or something, like how I can't hear out of one ear, maybe Dad just falls asleep as his thing. I remember waking him up a lot when he fell asleep on the couch, just to make sure I could, and then he figured out what was going on and explained to me in better terms and said he was sorry he didn't explain it properly the first time. But I do sometimes still have nightmares where either he's asleep and I can't wake him up, or I'm asleep and I can't wake up. So, I guess that's probably my greatest fear, even if I totally know it's a silly one and I don't spend a lot of my waking hours worrying about it.

What do you have in your pockets?

My phone, a cord to charge my hearing aid when the power's low, some gum, a pencil, and a couple of dog biscuits left over from luring over this puppy I found in an alley near my apartment so I could take it to a shelter.

While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.

My Dad's a superhero. I was spoiled for role models. I have a whole great big group of them. But my dad was probably my biggest one. He's awesome, and an actual hero, but also really nice and if I can be a little like him, I'd be really happy.

Do you have any biases or prejudices?

I try not to, because Dad and Mom really drilled into me that everyone is equal and the same and shouldn't be treated badly just because they're a certain way or whatever. And I think I pretty much do that. Except if you're trying to attack the world, then I feel justified in judging you about that. Also if you eat your pizza with a knife and fork. Those are my two exceptions.

What is your most treasured possession?

Uncle Tony gave me one of the Captain America prototype shields his dad made. My dad obviously never used it in battle, but I played with it when I was little, and it's hung on a wall in my apartment, and it looks really close to Dad's, but it's sort of mine, too, I guess? Kind of stupid, probably. I've used it a few times to defend myself, and it works. Better than a trashcan lid, anyway. I've used one of those a few times, too. I once made Uncle Bucky laugh his ass off when I told him that...

Pt the 2nd

From: [identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com
Where and when were you born?

I was born at St. Patrick's Hospital in New York City, New York on December 17th, 20[??]. Apparently there was a big snowstorm on the day I was born, and Dad says it was impossible to get a cab, and he was worried he was going to have to deliver me himself at home because it took so long to get a ride, but Mom always says she was in labor with me for, like, thirty hours something, so that can't be true. One of them is probably exaggerating. Or both of them.

As a child, what were your favorite activities?

I loved to swim, and I still love to swim. I swam whenever I could. I liked to play with Winnie, we were basically together all the time. We played detectives, and superheros. I liked to garden with Mom, and draw with Dad, and read. I liked to visit the Tower and be adored by everyone there, and explore Uncle Tony's lab.

How close are you to your family?

Really close. I didn't really know how close until I got older and started seeing other people's families and realized that not everyone is as close as we are. I get along really with with my parents, and I love my mom's family, too, and all my cousins. And I have a big family on Dad's side, who aren't blood family, but act like it. I have a billion people I could ask for help and I know they would be there in a second, and that's basically what a family is supposed to be, isn't it?

These are great! I especially like the detail of JJ having leftover dog biscuits and him having once used a trashcan lid as a shield. The apple did not fall far from the tree, Steve.

One of them is probably exaggerating. Or both of them.

I can so see Steve and Nora correcting each others' stories.

Steve: The wait for the cab was hours.
Nora: It was 30 minutes.

Nora: The labor lasted over 30 hours.
Steve: Actually, it was barely a day.

I took a quick look at the entire 100 questions list and that was a bad decision. Do I really need to apply 100 questions to Winnie? Apparently, I do.

The fact that Steve was somewhat of a stay-at-home dad probably meant that he had more opportunity to influence JJ's views on life than Nora.

Steve: I got a call from the school, it said you were late for class.
JJ: There was a cat stuck in a gutter. I had to free it.
Steve: Oh, okay then.

Steve: *mopping up a bloody nose* You need to block with your fists.
JJ: My fists are too small!
Steve: Find something to put between you and their fists, then.
JJ: Okay.
Steve: But try not to fight at all.
JJ: But there was a dog.
Steve: ....is the dog okay?
JJ: Yes.
Steve: Okay, good.

I can so see Steve and Nora correcting each others' stories.

I've actually been working on JJ's birth, and this is totally what will happen due to how each of them prioritizes things. Steve just wants Nora to get to the place with all the magical modern medicine that makes babies not die any more (and is completely baffled that some women don't want to do that and want to give birth in a forest without painkillers, look at all the baby-saving things you have, people!), and Nora is more concerned that they have food for when they get home with the baby, so she's making spaghetti and everything will be fine, Steve. Then Steve is happy because they are at the hospital where all the magical medicine is, and Nora is like 'this takes a really long time and is not pleasant'. Therefore each of them have a skewed time frame on how long it all took.

Do I really need to apply 100 questions to Winnie? Apparently, I do.

Yeah. OCs are a gateway drug, I swear. Do you want to know about Nora's nephew? I can tell you about him. Or the fact she has a resistance to local anaesthetic, so Tony gave her a trial numbing device for if the epidural didn't work? Or that she makes cookies when she can't sleep? It's addictive.

It seems an animal needing help is the blanket disclaimer rule for either fighting or ignoring your other obligations. Sounds about right.

Yeah. OCs are a gateway drug, I swear.

Yup. The fact that I've already sketched out a ridiculous amount of details about Winnie's future husband and his daemon is a little scary. He's an academic, they met over a murder case and he comes from a very small family so having to meet all of Winnie's extended family was a bit overwhelming.

I imagine if that if you go anywhere with JJ there is a distinct possibility he'll have to stop at some point to either rescue an animal or pet an animal.

Winnie: Really? On my wedding day?
JJ: It was a puppy, Winifred!

I've given the Stark children professions, dating habits, and given Jamie and husband and kids, so I'm right there with you.

I'm not sure about JJ's future life partner. I see him as quite happy being on his own, so I picture him only dating if he was really interested in a girl, and probably needing to be head over heels before he did anything about it.

I'm fairly convinced that JJ probably brought the puppy to the wedding. He couldn't just leave the lost thing on the street but he didn't want to miss the event either. He'll give the puppy some food and start posting signs after the reception.

I think I've perhaps unconsciously given Winnie and Elliot (her husband), a dynamic somewhat reminiscent of Peggy and Jarvis. Despite working mainly in her lab, Winnie will go out to crime scenes if it means collecting more data to solve the murder. Elliot, who is a forensic psychologist, would go with her to try and help but he's better at analyzing the crime than say, defending himself against the criminal.

Murderer: *attacks*
Elliot: Jesus! *tries to defend self with rock*
Winnie: *does roundhouse kick to head*

It's totally okay, because he had some biscuits in his pocket anyway, so he'll use them to keep the puppy quiet during the ceremony. Look, he's good boy, Winnie. Look at his little face. He likes you.

JJ: You look really pretty, too, by the way.

Hee! I love them already.

Jamie and his husband take turns being the Tony and Pepper in their relationship. Jamie is the sensible one, until it comes to building things, and then Ezra is like 'why are you letting the car drive itself on a beta programme, we have the children with us!'

Jamie: It's totally safe, stop fussing. J.A.R.V.I.S is an awesome driver, don't be mean to him.

Haha! But Jamie makes a good point. The car in JARVIS' hands is possibly even safer.

I think the greatest fighting maneuver Elliot has ever accomplished is once hitting a killer with Winnie's microscope.

Elliot: Oh my god! Did you see that? I actually knocked a person out!
Winnie: Are you okay?
Elliot: I'm fine. Although...I can't seem to make myself let go of the microscope.

JARVIS: My new navigational upgrades have made me 21% more efficient. I'll upload the new data to the server for further analysis, Master James.
Jamie: See? He's having a great day. He's rocking it. Just relax.
Ezra: This is one of those moments when I have to remind you that you are a Stark and therefore have no concept of what normalcy is.
Jamie: I'm not sure what you mean.
Ezra: That is exactly my point.

Hahaha! That is totally Jarvis with his tray at the diner.

Yay me!
Oh, that was very violent.
Still, well done, me.

Elliot has poor proprioception so he's always happily surprised when he can make his limbs do the thing he was planning. His daemon, Angharad reflects this sometimes like this.

Here, let me assist you! To the picture repository!

Older self (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/321866704596161405/)

He got the Potts long, lean genes. Kit has the shorter, stouter Stark build, and Rocky got legs for days and a short torso.

Elliot has poor proprioception so he's always happily surprised when he can make his limbs do the thing he was planning.

Awww! I so identify. I have no depth perception, so my concept of where my limbs are in space is pretty awful sometimes. I walk into doorways and knock things over.

That poor red panda! I love how at the end, when he falls, he's just like 'oh, well, that was fine, then. Look at me, not dead. Good job.'

Not shockingly, Jamie is rather good looking.

That poor panda looks slightly embarrassed about falling but he's just trying to be super casual about it.

Cam: Are you okay?
Angharad: I'm fine! Why?
Cam: You just-
Angharad: Oh, no! I totally meant to do that!

Tony: Damn straight. You can't fight genetics.
Pepper: Unfortunately.
Tony: Shut up, our kids are awesome, and they only blow themselves up half as much as I do, so clearly we're working that out of the gene pool.

Cam: Are you okay?
Angharad: I'm fine! Why?
Cam: You just-

Heee! Awww. Look at you writing cute fluffy love stories.

I'm off to bed. Thanks for coming over to my journal to play!

Okay, you've inspired me. JJ ends up with a woman named Tess. She's a wildlife photographer. Her daemon is possibly a groundhog named Mati (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/160159330474338265/). They meet when she stops to help JJ rescue some kittens in the street, and then tracks him down to get his permission to use the photographs she took. I'm not sure if they get married, or just live together, but that's his life partner.

Tess: Hi, I was at this shelter the other day, with a man who had a fedora full of kittens? He's about this tall, and has a cute smile and nice eyes.
Steve: I'm almost positive you must be talking about my son.
Tess: Oh! Well... you probably have his phone number then.

It would be pretty amazing if there were TWO men with fedoras full of kittens.

Tess sounds lovely. I love the photo of her daemon.

Steve: Well, that's either my son, or Fedora Bill. Did he smell like cheese?
Tess: No...?
Steve: Okay, you met JJ, then.
Tess: Who's Fedora Bill, though?
Steve: *righteous indignation activate* A man who will not spay his cat!
Tess: Oh. Right. Well...about that address?
Steve: *righteous indignation deactivate* Sorry, I'll get that for you.

Later on...

Tess: So, I met your dad?
JJ: Was he embarrassing?
Tess: No! Not at all. He was very nice. He's Captain America, right? The first one?
JJ: *proud* Yep. Did he try to give you a dog?
Tess: No?
JJ: Huh, he must have been having an off day.

I love the photo of her daemon.

Marmots (who are in the groundhog family) love (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/160159330474338279/) a (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/160159330474338250/) good (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/160159330474338199/) camera (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/160159330474338168/). They were the most common animal I found when I searched for 'animals with cameras', after squirrels. Squirrels love a good camera, too.

Groundhogs stand super still, though, and are very alert, which I thought worked for Tess having to keep still to get her shot. And they are relatively social, but not terribly, and they raised their kids in pairs but have big families, and they prefer to run instead of fight, but if anyone tries to get into their house, they basically shut that shit right down. And they make burrows that other animals live in, so Tess is probably cool with the menagerie that JJ houses in his apartment.
