Update

Hey folks! My mom had her surgery, and is in the recovery room now. I just got back from seeing her, and she's doing well. She had a bit of a turn in the OR, where her blood pressure tanked; they think she had an allergic reaction to one of the drugs, but they're not sure what. In any case, she's going to be overnight in the recovery room for monitoring, but she's fine and the concern has passed, and the surgeon is very happy with the prosthetic and the surgery itself went super well. She had a spinal and said she slept all the way through, and she's not in any pain, and she was very coherent when I saw her. Her biggest concern is about Ascii, of course. She's afraid she'll be upset that she's not home.

Thanks for all the good will! And for the birthday messages! I'm not celebrating until we go to the cottage in July, just because of everything that's going on at the moment, but I appreciate the happy wishes!

Thanks, sweetie! Mom's going to be a couple nights on a ward once she gets there, so Ascii will have a bit of a wait, but I think we'll all make it through. I hope I will be a sufficient substitute for Mommy snuggles in the meantime, but I suspect I'll be found wanting.

She has a very precise routine to the day. In the afternoons, she snuggles with Mom, and if you come in to talk to Mom while she is snuggling, then you get glared at until you've left again. In the evenings, she watches various history and/or science documentaries with Dad. And then, when I come out to the computer around 10:30 or so, she comes and sits on the couch nearby and helps me write stories. Then she puts Mom to bed, and comes back out to sleep on the couch. This is how it was ever done and thus will always be.
