Well, the next twenty minutes or so will be the last of my birthday. The earth has rotated 22 times (ETA:) around the sun since I was born. I had a very low-key birthday, which is nice. I am totally not a party girl. Adam and Amalie came over for dinner. We had Chinese food and a DQ cake, both of which were delicious. Then we played Pictionary, Adam and my mum vs Ama and I. It's always a struggle to get Adam and my mum to play, since Ama and I have the same thinking process. We always win. By a lot. And Ama is a very sore winner. But they agreed to play because it was my birthday. Ama and I still won, but they did very well and we had fun. Ama and I watched the second half of the Sense & Sensibility mini-series and started on the Persuasian TV movie (why, hallo Captain Wentworth) before she had to go to work.

I got some nice gifts. Adam and Ama got me perfume and a very cute purse that came with it. I got some books, a new computer game, an anklet, a plaque thing for my room, a skirt with a pattern like a monarch butterfly's wings and an iPod holder thingy. Plus money, which is never a bad thing. :)

So, it was a nice day. I got some nice well-wishes on lj too, which was lovely. Thanks to those people!

Happy Birthday, m'dear!

Ah, I rather liked that version of Persuasion. I've never thought Rupert Penry-Jones was a memorable actor, but he was quite lovely and fantastic in that movie.

He was indeed. Persuasion suffers from the Jane Austen shtick of miscommunication more than others. In every story, if people just talked to each other, there wouldn't be a story, but I feel like Persuasion could have ended in the first half hour if Anne had just said 'yeah, I acted like a douche, forgive me?'. I confess to having never read a book of hers, only seen the productions, so I can't say whether it runs that way in the book or just the movie. In any case, I enjoyed it and my mum loved it.

Thank you, miss!
