I busted my toe up good on Tuesday night. My right one, the one before the pinkie toe. I stubbed it on the wall, very unexpectedly as stubbing is like the Spanish Inquisition. I took a sizable piece of skin off the top of it and it wouldn't stop bleeding until my mum made me put my foot in a bowl of ice water. She was kind of rolling her eyes when I asked her to take a look at it because I'm not very good with pain and she fully expected it to be some minor little thing. 'Yuck, that's bad!' quoth she. 'I KNOW!' quoth I. Now it's all bandaged up and I have to soak it twice a day in saltwater so it doesn't get infected. I also have to wear a thick sock over it so it doesn't get jostled because my mum is afraid if I hit it on anything else it will start bleeding again. Weird thing? No one at school yesterday asked why I was only wearing one sock and it took my father until 6:00pm last night to ask. Should I be worried I am apparently consistently weird enough that no one found it odd?

Yesterday was the last day of school, so yay for summer! We're going to the cottage for a week again this year and, in August, if all goes well, Ama and I and couple of friends are going to CN Anime in Toronto. Jamie Bamber will be there! That is how Ama is luring me.

I read a brief article the other day about Serenity returning to movie theatres. The proceeds are going to support Equity Now which is an organization dedicated to preventing violence against women. It's apparently starting today and running through August, so keep your eyes peeled and take as many people as possible if/when you go. It's for a good cause and maybe if there's a big enough turnout we can get ourselves, if not a new season, a movie or mini-series or books or something!

Finally, I am rather behind in the reading and commenting of things so I'm going to try and fix that over the weekend.

Nope. When I got a toe-related injury, I had to wear a thick sock as well and limped around. When no one really thought it was weird, I confronted people about it. Uhh..but not strangers or anything.

Interesting bit on the Serenity movie. I just recently watched it again on youTube and watched a handful of the episodes again on hulu. I'd forgotten how quotable and good some of the plots were for the episodes. Nathan Fillon needs more TV time in general.

It would be hilarious if you did, though. Sounds like a Juste Pour Rires gag. :-)

Amen to that. I wish Drive had lasted longer. It wasn't a terribly good show, but I needed more Nathan Fillion flaring his nostrils angrily. He acts with his nostrils, I swear. And he is awesome at it.

I have a whole bunch of episodes of him on Two Guys and A Girl which was a really funny show. Like, I'd forgotten how funny it was. He's so sweet on that one.

I watched "Slither" just because of Nathan Fillon. The movie had some surprisingly hilarious moments, most of which were courtesy of Fillon and his talent for "Deadpan WTF-ery?!" Expressions.

I wanted to see Slither for the Nathan factor, but it's just not my cup of tea. I don't do well with horror or gruesomeness. I recommend Waitress, though, if you haven't seen it. He's very sweet in that.

If Serenity (re)hits theaters around here, I am so going. My best moviegoing experience ever (for an actual movie) was that one -- we managed to accidentally go to the theater and showing where the local chapter of the Browncoats were set up, and it was amazing. There were trivia and prizes before the movie! And cheering when Book showed up, and... just lots of good times. :D

Ouch to the toe! Those things are remarkably fragile, aren't they? Hope it heals up for you soon.

Jamie Bamber in person is the hottest thing that has ever been hot. I'm serious. He was at Dragon*Con last year, and the one time we laid eyes on him (having missed various Galactica panels), we all stopped dead in our tracks. Funniest was [livejournal.com profile] astrum_presul's mother, who we almost literally had to drag away. There are no words for how gorgeous that man is.

Oh that's cool about the showing. I hadn't gotten into it yet when it was in theatres the first time, I was a couple of months behind. Since then all my friends have been converted, so I hope it comes here and we can storm the theatre.

I have to confess that I don't watch Battlestar Galactica. I saw the mini-series and the first few episodes of Season One, but it was too dark for my tastes. I am a huge fan of Jamie's from his Hornblower days, though. I am sucker for nice eyes and he has those gorgeous blue ones. Yum. :-)

I didn't think I'd seen you talk about Galactica, but people have surprised me before. :) I swear I could see those gorgeous blue eyes from across the room at D*C. Guh.

I spent the summer leading up to Serenity getting caught up on Firefly, because I'd never watched it before. It didn't take long to get hooked. :) Watching a movie like that with other people who are just as enthusiastic (if not moreso) is a real treat.

I needed to have a PB with really crazy eyes for a slightly insane RPG character and Jamie is who I chose. Boy has some seriously crazy blue eyes.

I agree. Seeing a movie in a theatre full of enthusiastic people is the best. It's not fun when there's only a few people in the audience.
