Dresden Files: 9 (22 total for the year)
Doctor Who: 3 (6 for the year)
Firefly: 1 (3 for the year)
Iron Man: 1
Total: 14 (30 for the year)
# of words written total: 20,497 (51,983 for the year)
Average # of words per fic: 1,464 ( 1,732 for the year)
Shortest Fic: Art Imitating Life (500 words)
Shortest Fic this year: End of the Line (450 words)
Longest Fic: As Good As Your Words (2,800 words)
Longest Fic this year: Good Timing (5,571 words)
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Much, much less. Last year I was lowering my dosage of Paxil by quite a bit and my creativity was very, very high during that time. Paxil is known to sort of 'numb' the user and I was on a very high dose, so when I lowered it it was like all these new feelings and ideas came pouring out. Now that my levels have...um, leveled out, my creativity has as well. So I didn't write as much this year as last year. Which is fine.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2008?
Iron Man. This movie wasn't even really on my radar until my brother invited me to see it and then it was so unexpectedly good. I still don't know how I ended up writing fic for it, actually. It just happened.
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
I'm extremely proud of Good Timing. It was my first venture into the Dresden Files bookverse and I feel like it turned out really, really well. With great thanks to
tigerkat24 for her mad beta skillz and convincing me I could do it.
What's your least favorite story of the year, regardless of the reviews it got (or didn't get)?
Fire Alarm. It was written last minute for a
dresdenflashfic challenge, since I hadn't missed one since it started and I didn't want to. I don't think it's neccessarily a bad story, it just wasn't anything new or hadn't been written before.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
I think venturing into the Dresden Files bookverse was a risk for me. The bookverse is soooo much bigger than the TVverse and Harry's voice and humour is a bit darker than TV!Harry, and I wasn't sure if I could handle it. I think I did okay with it, though, and I definitely got good reviews, so that was very satisfying.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
I'd like to write another multi-chapter Dresden fic, since I think my brain has recovered enough from Somnus to give it a shot and I have a bunny. I'd also like to write more Firefly fic. I need to rewatch the series (not exactly a chore) to get my characters down again. Plus I'd like to work away on the original thing I've started (*is secretive*).
I want to thank everyone who reads and follows and comments on this journal. I really, really appreciate all the encouragement I've gotten. Thank you!
