I've used awanderingminstrel for awhile in various places, but it was too long for LJ and I thought 'bard' worked well for a fanfiction journal. I've always thought the concept of somebody who wandered from place to place, singing the news was sort of awesome and hilarious at the some time. I also used to play a bard in Everquest and Everquest 2 (though they weren't as cool in that version), which may have influenced my love of bards.
