Lots of writers keep folders of images for inspiration or ideas. Choose some images from your files and post them behind a cut, with as much (or as little) explanation as you want.
Tasmin's pentacle flower necklace is gorgeous!! I have certain tags on Tumblr that I go to for inspiration. I have folders, too, but somehow, I seem to use them less for whatever reason.
I have an inspiration blog on tumblr for reblogging story-related things, and a reference tag on my main tumblr, too. I find sometimes it's actually easier to find what I'm looking for on tumblr than with Google!
Thanks! The ones with the pearls were originally in a chapter of Lost for Words that was cut. They're Sherlock's father's, and he wears them when he's forced to wear cufflinks.
This is true! Tumblr is a gold mine for fandom inspiration. Soooo many interesting things to be found and seen there! :D
I do enjoy hearing backstory about the Holmes and cufflinks, since Sherlock apparently doesn't like them, which could either be a practicality issue or a plain dislike of something because of ill associations, potentially family-related.
They are also just pretty cufflinks, either way. *G*
I picture Sherlock as having a very precise, streamlined look. He likes to look what he considers to be 'proper', but I don't think he would bother with things like cufflinks because it would be too fussy. He doesn't really do bold, it's all very dark and plain, but stylish.
In Lost for Words, Sherlock goes to a concert with Mummy, and that was originally earlier in the story and a bigger deal than it ended up being. I had him needing help with his tie and cufflinks (needed because it was a fancy concert and Mummy insisted) and John questioning him about the cufflinks and tie pin. I had Mycroft getting the ring his wears and his pocket watch from their dad, and Sherlock inheriting the cufflinks and tie pin, which he never wears unless he has to. /ramble
I wrote the table and I did the same thing. No worries. ;-D
I wasn't even looking for something that gadgety for the cufflinks. I was looking through etsy for any cufflinks, as someone on tumblr noticed Q wore cufflinks in the movie and I had a plot bunny and then I saw them and went 'I'll have that'.
I wasn't sure about the rose gold, originally, but it matches Sarah's engagement ring, and now I think it suits him.
Isn't he cute? He's a beabull--beagle/bulldog. I was writing a story where John first acquires him, and I thought something more of a mutt would appeal to John.

I love the USB cufflinks! And John's wedding ring looks just right.
