Made Mum watch the first Star Trek reboot movie, and she 'really enjoyed' it. She also enjoyed Captain America. We're going to try The Avengers next, when we have a chunk of time to kill (that thing is long). We're also reading the Sherlock Holmes stories aloud. I am on a roll with fandom conversions.

Next stop...er...I don't know what's left...

Excellent point. Maybe time for some Classic Doctor Who? Usually those are easyish to find at libraries and things.

I tried New Who and it was no go, unfortunately, so I don't know if Old Who would fly. I really should try Old Who, though. I've only seen a few episodes. I don't even know if our library has DVDs. I'm afraid of the librarian, I haven't been in about ten years.

Classic is quite different than New... it's more quaint, less showy. There's less running and explosions and no CGI. There's quite a bit available online, I think here has the best selection: http://www.dailymotion.com/playlists/user/tardismedia, although this is nice too

I really like Two's serials (not many survive, unfortunately) and just think there's a nice quality to the black and white ones in general.

Ugh, sorry your library isn't any good, that's so disappointing!

Thanks!

I remember not finding the daleks scary until I saw one of One's serials with them, then I got it. It was scarier in black and white for some reason. And I've seen one serial with Four, with Sarah Jane and...Harry? And Three's first serial, and The Five Doctors. My friend had a bunch of stuff taped on VHS, so what I got was rather random.

I liked Harry, he was such a 'proper' gentleman and sweet with Sarah Jane. Three's first appearance is kind of fun, its the first DW to be in color and it also set up a lot of things that'd be important later.

I've only managed to watch bits and bobs as well. Some are better than others (not surprisingly) but overall, they're nice ways to spend some time.

I was very fond of Harry too, what I a saw of him. I seem to be drawn to medical characters, though. I like me some doctors.

I really liked One, too. I know it was due to extenuating circumstances, but I found his occasional word confusion very endearing.

Six was the only Doctor I didn't like much, but that might have had something to do with his main companion, Peri, who wasn't that great and the coat he wore. There's a serial "The Two Doctors" with Two and Jamie and Six and Peri that wasn't bad, but then again, Two and Jamie are my favorites.
