Date: 2013-10-01 02:14 am (UTC)Alec loved the Sunday food markets, because they were a staple of weekends with his father. Every Sunday, Dad would wake him up early and they would go looking for ingredients to try out new dishes for dinner that night. Even after Dad remarried and Gigi and her daughters moved in and his half-siblings arrived, going to the market was a Dad and Alec thing. It was still where they went when Alec needed to discuss problems or get advice. "We'll go to the market and get you sorted, son". He found it comforting to be amongst all the colour and smells and food. It made him happy.
This Sunday, Molly was with him. She'd stayed over the night before and he'd suggested it as something to do that morning. She had her pinkie wrapped around his and held a basket over her arm for the food he picked from the stalls. She made him happy, too.
"Is everything okay?" she asked, blinking up at him.
"I love you," he said.
He wasn't sure what it was about her biting her lower lip while staring at starfruit that him so certain, but it had hit him in a sort of cricket bat to the head way.
Her eyes widened to almost comic levels for a moment, and then crinkled at the edges with a bright smile. "Oh!" she said. "Me too. I mean you. I mean, I love you, too."
